ABOUT THE PLAY

Set in modern day Paris, this hilarious dark comedy revolves around three male friends, Serge, Marc and Yvan, who find that their previously solid 15-year friendship is on shaky ground when Serge buys a very expensive white painting. To Marc, the painting is a joke but Serge insists that Marc has no proper appreciation of the true value of the artwork. Their eager-to-please friend Yvan, burdened by his own problems, tries to appease both but is dragged unwillingly into the disagreement. Lines are drawn and these old friends square off over the canvas, using it as excuse to batter one another over long-held resentments before the three finally resolve their differences in an act of reconciliation.

CHARACTERS

(All three characters could be played as 30 year olds/40s/50s/60s)

Serge (M) – Pompous and aloof, the purchaser of the artwork. An intellectual snob.

Marc (M) – Cynical and stubborn, feels abandoned now that Serge has developed his own modern taste.

Yvan (M) – The failed peacemaker whose own chaotic life and wedding arrangements draw the ire of his pals.

Please contact me with your interest ASAP. If you are unable to make this date but you are keen to audition please contact me immediately. I will provide audition pieces for each character. I would like to hear from as many auditionees as possible. It would be good to see different combinations. All three parts are excellently drawn.  A rehearsal commencement date, days per week and times will be arranged directly with the finalised cast.
